Wax Tarts

Small, inexpensive and easy to use, wax tarts were completely new to us until we found Yankee Candle. It's a common question for FHSelect. They stock over 100 fragrances and people often ask what they are for and how to use them.

Well, they are tiny balls of wax compressed into the shape of a tart. To give you a better idea, think of a jam tart made of wax and you've pretty much got a wat tart, or wax pot pourri as some people call them - Lord knows why!

As said they are available in about 100 fragrances (the last time they were counted!) a very inexpensive way to fragrance a room, or try a new fragrance if you're a little unsure and don't want to go in for a large jar straight away.

Yankee CYankee Candle Wax Tartandle descibe them as "

Great scent with no wick. Simply place one or two Tarts® Wax Potpourri in a wax potpourri burner (never add water) and light a Yankee® Tarts® Warmer candle (unscented tea light) below. As the Tarts® melt, they release their scent. About 8 hours of powerful, exceptionally true Housewarmer® fragrance each. Try combine different scents to create your unique aromas"

Wax Tarts are one of FHSelect's best selling best selling products and it's easy to see why. They're inexpensive, last for up to 8 hours and are easy to use. We're sure they'll have your favourite fragrance in stock as they stock every fragrance available in the UK. You can read below how they are used, they're dead easy and you'll come back time and time again to try new fragrances.

How Are They Used?

Wax Tarts do need a wax tart burner to burn in. Pictured here is a Yankee Candle tart burner (you can just about see the wax tart in the top). Yankee have an amazing amount of tart burners and there's no surprise there. Wax tarts are the number one selling scented wax product, and are the least expensive wax product Yankee sell. It's not all about Yankee however, Ashleigh and Burnwood have some up with leave shaped wax tarts. Although as they're wax leaves they aren't called wax tarts, that would just be silly

The first time you use a wax tart, light the tealight that you've placed in the space in the burner, you'll be amazed at how much fragrance you get, they're brilliant. As the tealight warms the wax tart is melts, as it melts the fragrance is released. Once the tealight has gone out the wax from the tart solidifies. Yankee Candle recommend 8 hours of burn time, to be honest we've used them longer and it's really up to you, whenever you feel the fragrance isn't strong enough; replace it.

So, there you are with your solidified wax tart in the top of your tart burner, how do you get the flipping thing out. We went through a number of attempts when we first used one. This included using the biggest, sharpest kitchen knife we had available. No, that wasn't such a clever idea as it stratched the burner and lead to a nearly nasty accident or two. A friend suggested we put the wax tart burner in the freezer. Hmmm, sort of made sense, the wax would freeze and...well. We did just that and hey presto, the wax tart just slid out of the well. Remember to let the tart burner warm up though before lighting another tealight beneath it.

Yankee also do some novelty tart burners where the dish, or well, detaches. This means you can just put the well in the freezer and not the whole tart burner.

If Two's Company, Is Three A Crowd?

One of the great things about wax tarts is that they are so flexible. If you're feeling brave whay not break two wax tarts in half and melt together to create your own fragrance mix!
